Can anyone tell me how to get permission to reproduce the Ford logo?

Contact the licensing department at Ford. This is something that is frequently required by people making reproduction parts. I assume you know you posted in a section for questions to the editors about the site. You might have more responses in one of the other Forums dealing with specific years.

MyOP; I don't think that Ford is going to come after you if this is one off and not being made for sales. As Charlie said this section is for questions about the site not car related questions. You might get better replies if you posted in the forum that matches the year of car in question.

apparently I need permission, as no one that does embroider work will do it without the OK from Ford
