Ford logo battery rebuilder

I've got a great Ford Logo Case battery that needs to be rebuilt. Can anyone recommend a battery rebuilder in the Staunton VA area or along RTE I-81 or RTE I-64?
Thanks.

I would think the rubber case would be far too brittle to be used. You might try the guys that make the repro Ford A batteries as I have not heard of anybody rebuilding batteries.

Batteries + say that they can rebuild any kind of battery. Have not used them, just sayin.

Nearly every decent town used to have a battery rebuilding shop. The EPA put a stop to that. Probably for good reason. I can imagine all the acid that went into the sewer system.
I had a friend that found two NOS Ford script battery boxes in one. He kept the "A" and gave me the "40" (Early V8).

this is not as easy as it seems., been looking for a while now for someone to do it correctly OR fit an optima inside and original case and line up the posts???

I spoke to Antique auto battery awhile back when a n.o.s. box was forsale on ebay. At that time they can rebuild the battery "BUT" NO on mailing the n.o.s. box [might crack or break in shipping. They told me i was better off bring the battery box to them. When i thought about it i realized,,,was i that hard up to spend that kind of money on a rebuild n.o.s. battery and for it to last what 3 years the most like the repro's , for 1 point??? What i did do was bought original battery ford caps,, cut the thread from [coarse thread] to fine thread [repro caps are fine thread] so that made me say i have 3 original battery caps , ground strap and battery bracket+plate. So the case is a repro...its now a % of a point.L.O.L.

But also Pete, the last 2 meets all the judging was "Does it have a ford script" yes or now…full points….

Yes i do have a Ford script battery with what i added [original caps too] . I am saying the repro FORD SCRIPT battery's sucks compared to a heavy duty tractor 6 volt battery for the price of $89.00 at tractor supply .Whats the cost of the Script battery now $220.00??? or close to it..Have you checked out the bottom of the Repro Ford Script battery??? there was a circle that said MADE IN THE U.S.A. years back... Now that circle is wiped out... ???Maybe south of the border made now... Made cheaper and sold for much more..

There useta be a place near Hartford ,ct that I had 2 of them rebuilt a few yrs ago, dont remember the name of it or if still in business. Anybody in the Hartford area know of it. ??? ken ct.

Hey Pete, I tried looking on Tractor Supply's web page and could not find ant listing of a Ford script. Any idea on a model number or another source for the battery? Thanks, Ed Saniewski

The tractor supply batteries are generic 6v, no Ford script. I believe the mention of TS was a value comparison between the new ford script battery and the generic.

There's a place in Berlin, CT off the Berlin Tpke on Deming Rd, near Christian Lane that rebuilds batteries. I can't remember the name (I'm a big help, huh?) and I'm housebound until next operation. Hopefully this may trigger someone else's memory.

I believe at Farm and Fleet the last one I bought was around 45 bucks, a 6V that is. Probably 4 years back. Been using a Power Tender trickle charger and it seems to help. It is interesting to note that Tom Wesenburg had probably the most cost effective battery set up for his Model A, a junk yard battery that he revived and has been running for years!!!! Hard to top THAT one!!

Maybe it's lasting so long because it gets to rest for 6 or 7 months over our lonng winters.:D

Actually having a generator with an EVR is a big help in making a battery last longer. Also a well tuned engine that starts right up helps.:)

I found this on another forum,

A previously recommended shop:

Rae Early
RAE Battery
51 Deming Road
Berlin, CT 06037
Phone (860) 828-6007

can no longer rebuild tar-top batteries. They said they enjoyed doing it but can't get the parts they need now.

Found this as well,

Jim at Antique Auto Battery today - he said they no longer rebild tar top batteries. Jim stated that EPA regulations made this type of work too difficult for him now and he knows of no other US business that does this type of rebuild.
