Ford door dovetails

Greetings

I am not restoring my car but want it to appear similar to what it would have looked when new.

What are thoughts on using stainless dovetail parts rather than using original painted parts?

The problem, the stainless dovetails are not as crisp as the original dovetails.

The bends in the original dovetails are sharp and not rounded. The metal appears to be thicker material than the stainless.

Did Ford ever use a pad to protect the painted surface on the door and door jams when mounting the dovetails male and female parts?

Thank you for your help.

I recently posted regarding dovetails for my doors. Then when I started to install, I found that one of the threaded holes was stripped.

Since the threaded nut is behind the door jam and is inaccessible from the inside, how do you fix?

I looked and it seems to me the best way is to make barrel nuts long enough to go through the jam, and wood insert of the post. By making the barrel nuts long enough to go through the door post, bottoming against the jam. The dovetail would then be tight against the jam.

If anyone has a better idea, please let me know as the car is in final paint.

Thanks

Jack
