Old post revival with additional question. What are these units worth when found in working order? Are these useful for the hobby mechanic?

I have now completely rebuilt my Ford distributor stroboscope. As a 'hobby mechanic' I find you can rebuild the Ford V8 and other distributors on several different timing fixtures to a certain standard, but with the Ford unit you set up the vacuum brake with the mercury reading and rotate the distributor at the required R.P.M to set it up to Ford specifications. Coils and condensers are also easily checked as well.
I have seen the Ford distributor stroboscopes sold for $3000 US , but I do not know the condition of them.
