Ford Dearborn factory Badges

This blue cast Dearborn badge # 821 was in a box of badges I acquired some time ago. I'm familiar with the Ford Rouge badges this one I've never seen.

The cast in date on the back I'm wondering about among other things.

Does anyone in the Ford Barn know if this is real or fake?

Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark, good to hear from you again!

That badge has got to be a fake. Granted, the clip on the back looks real, but all else is phony baloney IMHO. To put to rest any thoughts on it perhaps being real, how would the script and the 821 be the only features permanent on the casting mold? ...Oh, and BTW, badges were not cast.

Not the first time badges have been faked for the gullible collectors.

Alan,

I expected as much, why was the employee number cast and also the 1929 date on the back.
Thanks for the information.

Mark

For what it is worth, I have seen a lot of photos of various Ford badges in big collections & international, but have never seen one like this.
Most were thin metal stampings, but some were cast..

I asked a man who is an authority on Ford Badges and this was his reply.

"Not workers badges but promo items. Nice quality indicates Ford probably issued them - but they could be by one of the many car clubs".
