Ford banjo rear end issue.

Ok, looks like the driver side is correct(4-1/4") but the passenger side is short(3-5/8). So it's 5/8" short on the right side.

The older 10-spline rear axles also had different tooth count that the later 6-spline axles. Spider gears were different. Later six spline have same tooth count through 41. The 42 & on were longer for the wider rear axle housings. The earlier axle from 37 thru 41 fits good in the older cars but the 42 thru 48 is a tad bit wide & usually requires some back spacing adjustments on the wheels to look right if used on the early Ford cars.

When you do the math on Dick's length dimensions, and get the difference between 33-34 and 35-38, you get about the same difference you are measuring. Sure sounds like you have a 33-34 axle in the short side, or something else wrong internally, but I can't think what that could be. Any way you roll the dice, it needs to come apart. JMO

Whaddya know... one's short. I should have measured them. I guess I figured since I'm paying a premium for NOS axles I'd at least get sent the correct ones.

You should not have a problem selling the shorter (33-34) nos axle. Finding another 35-38 axle should not be difficult either. Probably plenty of good used ones around. Spadaro, Joblot, and some others may have one that's nos.

To those following this post, zgears has finally contacted me regarding this issue and since all part number markings were removed from the axle before assembly it is impossible to determine if the axle was sent in error or the part was incorrectly marked. Zgears is sending the short axle back and in return will exchange for the correct length unit. He will be refunded his return shipping and also get a new gasket kit to replace the ones that were damged due to installation.
