I went to a truck/antique equipment/tractor show a couple of weeks ago and spotted a homebuilt garden tractor that was for sale, it is a hodge podge of parts from, according to the sign, Sears and Ford Model A. I fell for it, but my more practical (I thought) better half, hit me with the old standbys "WHY? and What would you do with it?" as she led me away from it I looked back at it for the final time and thought thats just wicked cool. End of Story.....I thought, yesterday she pulled into the garage and the dog and I greeted her fondly, as she hurried me towards the house, she looked past me at the driveway and grinned, as my son pulled in with the tractor I had thought was just a fleeting memory, behind his truck. They conspired to get it for me as a future birthday and Christmas present.....SWEET!!! We got it off the trailer and I headed down the hill and out in back the thing has a AA trans in it and will FLY in high gear (if you can stay on the seat). Its powered by a 1947 Briggs ZZP engine, has a 7 tooth steering setup, cut down A rear end, torque tube, Ford 21" wheels.....sort of and bumperettes on the front. It was built in the late 40's according to the previous owner whose Grandpa bought it from the builder.
