Ford 302 FI Question?

I have a 95 Ford 302 engine and I want to use the FI on it in my 28 Ford rod. I have a new aftermarket standard wiring harness for a carbed engine. How can I setup the FI intake with this harness with a factory CPU without all the other nonsense sensors? KJ

You can't....those "nonsense" sensors are what makes the EFI work. You need to get an after market harness (is it a speed density or mass air flow stsyem?) to wire into the existing wiring. I'm going to assume the engine and EFI came out of the same car? Just need to tell the vendor the orgine of the engine. Most of the after market systems will be a four wire hook up, 12V keep alaive, 12V start, 12V run and a ground. There will also be a hook up for the fuel pump.

Or save a lot of money and time, and put on a 4 barrel intake and carburetor. Or tri power.

I agree with Sal. By the time you have the EFI working, you'll have harnesses all over the place. Hard to clean up without a lot of work. A carb setup is much easier to install and diagnose on the roadside..

You may need an older distributor too (Duraspark) since I beleive the distributor for the 302 EFI has spark advance controlled by the computer.

And also the right gear on the distributor. I wish I had a whole car to get the stuff out of, I would put it in my 60 F100. A mass air from a 96 F150 would be perfect. I have a friend who has done dozens of them and he says it's a piece of cake, he doesn't buy any expensive harness, just uses what came from the donor car.
