Fly wheel

In the bottom center of the fly wheel cover I noticed something sticking out. It turned out to be a cotter pin, as best I can figure it is used to keep dirt out. And I found a listing in Brattons for this item 3/16 x 1 inch cotter pin. My question is am I correct, or is the reactor going critical due to the loss of the pin? Thank you in advance. Tom

The pin is supposed to rattle around in the hole and keep it open so dirt and oil will not plug it. That allows oil to drip out ,if there is any, and not get on the clutch. annn that's the truth!!! Bill G
