Fly Wheel depth from lip to surface???

Friend had several fly wheels surfaced, now clutch slips, need to know what the distance is on a correct flywheel to see if the surface where pressure plate bolts up is to great and is making clutch unable to adjust, thanks for information, Bruce

The step is 1-1/8".

It would take a lot of grinding to increase the step enough to cause a good clutch to slip, but it certainly could be done.

Les Andrews lists the depth from the pressure plate mounting surface to the flywheel clutch plate surface as 1.123 inches.

If you can obtain a copy of The Restorer, July/August 2009 issue, Les has a detailed article titled "Pressure Plate Release Levers" that should answer any questions you may have.

By the way, clutch disk should be .340 inches thick.

I have read the article in the Restorer and it will answer all of your questions. but you need to check the springs on your pressure plate and the may need to be re staked if you purchased a new one.
