I am making some planked floorboards for my 28 special coupe and early 29 phaeton. They use the same floorboards that has the emergency brake handle in front of the gear shifter. I have a question about planked floorboard dimensions. I have pasted in a link to Steve Watrous' drawings that show the dimensions of various model A floorboards, below. Anyway, looking at the width of the floorboard at the widest part (rear of car) it shows 32" which I believe is correct. However, the dimension from the left side to the center of the shift tower cutout is shown as 16 5/32" (lower left corner of drawing). This means the shift tower is 5/32" off center toward the passenger side. I would have bet a lot of money the shift tower was in the exact center of the car (i.e. of the floorboard), with the center of the cutout 16" from the rear edge and not 16 5/32" like the drawing shows. Does anyone know if this is correct? I don't want to cut the hole one way and then find out it is off by 5/32". I don't currently have a car that has the transmission tower in place that I could easily measure. Measuring the distance from the passenger side of the shift tower cutout to the outer floorboard edge and doing the same for the drivers side would provide the information I am looking for. If they are 5/32" different, Steve's drawing would be correct. Any help would be appreciated.
