My freinds 39 flattie when driven long enough to briing heat up to driving range and stopped and let sit for 5 10 minutes will not start..A couple pumps and sometimes it will fire up but if it does it runs rough the rest of the day..Let it get cold no problem..Is this vapor lock which i do not understand..I beleive it is flooding. He has put kit including needle and seat in carb.I have a 36 and i know that when hot put pedal to floor and keep it there or your in trouble..Thanks Guys

Next time it happens, check your spark. You might have a bad coil, or even condenser. It would give you the same symptoms as being flooded due to not having enough spark to ignite the fuel properly...

If your carburetor is flooding and has been rebuilt you need to lower the float. Modern gasoline has a lot of additives in it that lower the density of the fuel. This means your float doesn't put as much pressure on the needle for the same amount of fuel. I had to lower the float in the 97 on my 37 FOUR times to get the fuel level correct.

I agree with the above post; it sounds like your friend has a weak coil.
