Float a Motor

If not using the old motor mounts will cause the frame to sag, can you weld a heavy strap to the bottom rail of the frame to eliminate the problem when you first install the new mounts. I am not talking about boxing but just welding in a heavy strap.

Very interesting idea, but if I were inclined to go there I would build something I could bolt in rather than weld.

I did something very similar about 10 years ago while putting a 289 in a '26 T coupe for a friend. It went between the front motor mounts, under the engine.

I think it has something to do with the strong union between the frame and engine not being there and causing the frame to sag straight down.

I have a '31 pick up and it sags badly with original mounts so I guess it's any ones idea.
