Flex hose in fuel Line

Some suggest installing a short piece of fuel hose in the fuel line, firewall bowl to carb to prevent stress issues either end ?
With or without (FAMS) Float A Motors, any thoughts without discussing the pros/cons for FAMS ?

Regarding FAM's - I have read that some believe that torsional rigidity is compromised when removing the stock motor mount boxes and installing the Float A Motor mounts, allowing the possibility for more engine movement, vibration, or frame flex. I don't have any first-hand knowledge about this but it seems to make sense. As an assembly, the flywheel housing and motor mount boxes essentially form a sort of structural "crossmember" and the benefits of that member are gone when FAM's are used. I'm sure opinions will differ on this topic just like motor oil. :)

I have FAMS on my cars and have always used the stock steel lines with no issues. Be sure to use steel and not copper because copper is supposed to get brittle and crack after many heat/cool cycles over the exhaust.

I used modern rubber fuel lines to connect a shut-off between the cast fuel bulb and carb. After about one year, the rubber fuel line split at the hose clamp. Go with the steel gas line.

If you decide to use a rubber fuel line, put a short piece near the carburetor and run the normal steel line the rest of the way. Make sure the hose is for fuel.

If you decide to use the rubber fuel line inspect it off often because the ethanol in the gas tends to deteriorate the rubber much quicker than our older fuel did.

I have repaired older units with the floaters. When the floaters get old and soft the bottom connection of the radiator is ripped off leaving one stranded. Don't ask me how I know this.

Modern cars have gone to durable plastic fuel line. It can be a pita to use but I have the tools that help with using it. It lasts a lot better than synthetic rubber. I've also used cupro-nickel line for both fuel and brakes. It doesn't work harden as fast as copper and holds up a long time. It forms more easily as well.

I have FAM mounts in my 4 door I broke that Fuel line three times. I was lucky it didn`t caught on fire. I have since put a braided flex line on with no problems for the last 18,000 miles. one of these days when I pull the engine out, I will go back to stock mounts.

note I will add I have an electric fuel shut off valve on the line.
