Lawson, With all due respect, I disagree. I sell a lot of stuff on eBay and never utilize reserves. I start my auctions at what I am willing to take. I am after all, trying to sell stuff and reduce my stock. Not simply see what the market may or may not bear.
Hopefully, the price moves up. Sometimes that doesn't happen and I let stuff go "cheap". Still, that was my choice.
A no reserve listing is more well likened to a sale (asking) price.
That reserve poop... I always figure a guy is fishing to see what he might be able to get.
I bought some fenders off Kube on evilbay at a price I thought was a fair price. There was no reserve and kick-off price was really fair, to top it off he was going to build a crate for shipping and never did he ask for additional money. As luck would have it I was going to visit friends and he was on the way. So not only did I get a great deal (in my mind) but I met this great guy!
The guy selling the trans is aware of what it is worth (alot of sellers don't), started the auction at a super low price and now others (knows what it's worth) are bidding to get it, just like at any other auction. So what's the deal? I've seen similar trannys at asking price up to $1,200.00 and I hope he gets it.
