Flathead to T5 help needed

This is the problem you run into when making modifications and still trying to make it look stock. Why? The easiest solution to this project would ne to convert to 52 componects and it would still look stock

I have a 49 f1 with a 49 truck block. I used the adapter kit from Cornnhusker rod and custom to put a t5 behind my flathead v8. No problem what so ever.
The t5 i have is from a 93 mustang and I used the tail shaft housing from a S10 so the shifter would line up in the stock location. The clutch disc I used is from a 93 mustang. the whole thig works great. I didnt have to do a thing under then bolt it together and go drive it.

That is all true except the 53 truck bell houseing is not at all cose to being the same as your 49. The 53 has the rear engine mounts cast integeral with the bell houseing. the 49 style is mounted at the front of the engine and the rear of the trans.

I thought that you could mount the transmission to the ford bell housing with a few modifications. I believe that the ford register hole is a lot bigger than the T5. So you make an ring to center the T5. You also have to drill and tap new bolt holes. Maybe weld in a boss to reinforce that area to take the bolt hole. If your this deep into modifying, the loss of a little por15 is nothing. Cast can be welded with nickle rod.
You might even have to make a "Frankenstein" ******. the housing from one make and use a tailshaft from a S-10.
Right now I have the gear section from a Z-28 with their wonderful close ratio gears and the tailshaft and housing from a S-10. Flatheads really love close ratios.
You might even use the gearcase from a mustang if the bolt holes are more favorable.
make sure that they are all "world class" or non world class. If your really sharp machinist , you are suppose to be able to marry them as well.

I think the speedway has cross shaft like 39.
You could just change the rearend and get the rpms up to 2500 at 70 mph.
