I just fired up my 40 after sitting a couple years and the Flathead seems to smoke a little. Maybe a stuck ring or two? Anything additive I can put in the oil to maybe help Thanks, Jim
If it smokes after going down a long hill, MMO won't cure it. It is pulling oil around the valve guides or valve stems. An other place to look is the under side of the intake manifold. The next time you have it off look for a stain running down the block intake runner. I have had one with a bad intake gasket use quite a lot of oil. Chuck
Question to all about MMO.. How much do you put in the gas tank? And how much in the engine? .. Does it do any harm? And what are the benefits of both? Thanks
from what iv'e been told it lube the upper half of the engine when you use it in the gas. on the bottle should tell you how much to how may gallons. i use it only in my gas the car may smoke just a little . the old lead type fuel had the lead in it from what i understand to lube the upper half . some valve seats are not hardened this is why there was lead . the mmo takes the place of the lead plus it cleans and you use it. this is what i have hear.I don't use MMO in the oil, just in the gas. I put a shot or two in the gas tank when I fill up, not the most scientific but it works. On both our '39's, V8 and V-12 I installed a top oiler. I keep it filled with MMO and check it after a long drive of when I fill up the gas tank.
What is MMO?. i need some my flatty smokes too
