flathead road trip

Hi Everyone, Welcome to the FordBarn Forum's havasudeuce!

Wow, I wish my flattie sounded like that one?!?

I feel a tug on my leg, I think that's the engine sound of a warbird or some kind of airplane?

Speaking of engines, anyone care to comment on the one in this video?

What kind of heads, what kind of intake/fuel delivery??? More photos please?

Also, what kind of gizmo makes the camera do that little pan/slide to the side?

Hi jeff
The engine is a French block 304 cu in. Wilson and Woods heads/ modified, Isky
max 1 on 108 centers, All kinds of coatings and balancing. M-tron ECU that can tune each cylinder and does. 8 coils. Cold starts before belt makes a revolution.
At least 10k on this build. French blocks are great. Lot of nickel.
304 ft lbs at 2700 204 hp

Definitely Wilson and Woods heads, but that sound seems to be pure Rolls Royce Merlin

Hmmm, I don't think there are quite enough V8 logos on that engine ... LOL! Nonetheless, it's a nice piece of work!

The ecu is a Emtron from Australia. I was lucky enough that the designer and owner of Emtron was in Havasu when my engine was on the dyno. He used it as a mule to do some teaching on mapping. It uses knock sensors to control timing. 2 and 3 don't like each other and ecu identifies which one is knocking and pulls spark until it can put it back up. It can actually tune each cylinder with a special spark plug that measures pressure.
Unless you have access to all the equiptment and mapping personal, keep it simple.
I have over 10k miles on this engine with various ecu's. I would not have it any other way. I also have access to equip. and perssonal. So, proceed with caution.

They don't make a simple one as far as I know. I only use a small portion of what the ECU can do. Unless you have someone that is familiar with mapping and harness's ,,, lay low

I'm converting to an EFI TB System in the near future. Am lucky to have a grandson fimiliar with this mapping stuff. However my goal is better fuel economy. So, if you keep your foot out of that Merlin how's the mileage.
