Flathead lower hose problem

I'm running a 49 to 53 flathead on a original deuce frame. I'm trying to find 2 lower radiator hoses. It is a big 2 inch drop from center to center. I've tried all of Flathead Jacks hoses and his aluminum piece that drops down...it didnt even fit. I think my water pumps are alittle too large for his part. The piece of aluminum he offers hits the fan belt. Have you found any hoses that are made for a late model car that a piece can be cut out of to fit...it needs to be shaped like a tight S.
Thank you,
Guy

I am running a 59A in my 32. The stock 8BA hoses are tight and have to be shortened but are the parts on my car. Maybe an 8BA has different lower inlets.

What I have done is for each wp, get the two ends that U need and join them with a short section of pipe to bridge the portion between the two hose pieces and use hose clamps to seal them from leaking. This has worked very well for me and my old 40 coupe was done that way and other non-flathead engines in other 40 cars that I have owned ....

A similar solution, if you have a parts house that will let you look at their hoses, take a pic and perhaps bend up a coat hanger wire to the shape and size you need and go look through the miriad of hoses for daily drivers. I usually find something I can adapt by slicing it open in the middle, insert a short section of pipe, and turn the ends so that they suit my application, again using those clamps to finish the setup. If I can find a pic I will.

I have seen the Swedish hoses advertised - had anyone here used them and can speak for how they are?

For a somewhat different situation, I got 2 custom pipes made up at a local muffler shop to handle the angle and offset. Then just join each end with a short section of straight hose.

The muffler guy bent them while I waited for a very low cost. Just gave him a drawing showing what I needed.

I have an 8 BA in a 32 frame and a Carquest D71038(old number 21236) works very well for this. You will have to cut out what you need, and install them in a manner to avoid the water pump belt.
Never mind the upside down photo, it always does that when i put a picture on here from my phone.

Find a Gates belt & hose part number interchange book. Any reputable parts house should have copies to back them up in case their computer goes down. Whether or not they have anybody that works there that still knows how to read or think without being promped on what questions to ask is another problem. Anyway, in the back half of the book will be belts & radiator hoses by part number & legnth, & a section that will show radiator hoses by a picture or drawing. They will give both end sizes & show the shape & legnths. You can then find the one that is closest to what you need & cut out the section to fit. I hope this helps. Bill

All your suggestions are appreciated, thank you.
On the HAMB they suggest I have the radiator shop tilt the lower inlet 15 degrees.
I'm going to check out 3 hoses first.

Dayco 72237

I have bought the Aulis lower hoses, they work great.
I have just bought Drakes upper and lower hose kit for 59A in a 32, you get all of the upper and lower hoses plus clamps, got it on sale for $48.00 with free shipping. It also works great.

Here is a picture of Aulis' hoses on my 32. I have a 59AB installed and originally tried the MEC ones (with the aluminum riser castings). What a pain in the butt it was using that setup (though I was glad to have it at the time). Also, it just looked weird . . . so I'm very happy that Aulis came up with his hoses and he is a REALLY great guy to work with.

Note: These pumps have the 'bull-horns' (mounts) shaved off of them - can't stand having them hanging out in the breeze when using stock 32 motor mounts.

I also had a radiator shop lower the bottom inlets approx. 15-20 degrees and used a Gates 22247 hose.
Hope that helps.
