1948 Flathead Ford 59A Hot Rod Engine
This is a new professionally rebuilt Flathead Ford engine. It has never been installed or started since it was rebuilt.
It was rebuilt by Meyers Engine Rebuilding. We have been a full time professional engine builder and machine shop for over 25 years. We have built many Flathead Ford engines that you may have seen on ebay.
The 59A block has been professionally cleaned, shot blasted and magnafluxed, bored and is .060" over with new cam bearings.
The valve seats have all been reground with all new stainless steel 1.6" valves, new springs and new valve seals installed.
The valve lash has been butted to exactly .012" intake and .014" exhaust. This is the way Ford did it at the factory, this engine will be very quiet, with no valve noise, and will stay that way, the way a flathead should be. You will never have to try to adjust those miserable constantly changing adjustable lifters.
This block has hardened exhaust valve seats.
The crankshaft is the 4.0" Mercury crank and has had the sludge plugs removed cleaned and replaced with screw in plugs. It was reground and is .020" on the rods and .010" on the mains. This engine is approximately 265 cubic inches.
This engine has new rod & main bearing, cam bearings, cast pistons, rings, gaskets and aluminum cam gear.
It has a new rebuilt late style short oil pump with the helical cut gears for better oil pressure.
The camshaft is a very nice vintage 3/4 race Detroit Dunn camshaft with .325" lift. I do not know the duration of this cam.
The heads are new Edelbrock block letter heads and the intake manifold is a new Offenhauser regular duel intake so you can still mount a generator or alternator in the stock location.
The two carbs are 94's and have been completely rebuilt with #51 jets and the power valves have been blocked off.
It comes with all new cylinder head acorn nuts and two new chrome air cleaners. The fuel pump stand is polished aluminum.
It has a new fuel pump push rod and bushing installed.
The distributor is a flat crab style duel point stock distributor. The points, condenser,rotor and are new.
The engine comes with a newly resurfaced flywheel installed.
The water pumps are new rebuilt original Ford pumps.
This is a very nice engine. I am very particular and spend a lot of time on detail and precission machining, you will not be disappointed with this engine.
It is being sold with no core deposit or core return. $6200.00
