Flathead Block Price Range

Barners,

Does anyone have some price ranges for buying flathead blocks? The block is stripped down with broken studs, has no visible cracks but has not been magnafluxed. However is clean and there is no visible damage. It appears to be a 38-42 85hp block as it has trapezoidal main center water jackets. There are serial numbers nor casted into IDs such as a "59".

Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

$100 max. as you really have know way of knowing if there are any defects.

I asked a simular thread a few days ago. If it was know and proven to be good, $500-$800 is the going price.

The broken stud thing scares me. They can sometimes come out easily, sometimes they take a shop with specialized tools to get them out without damaging the threads.

$75-$100 MAX on the block you are talking about. Tell the guy to get it magg'd. If it comes back good, you'll pay the mag, his gas, and time and you'll be ahead of the game.

I'm not sure I agree with you on this. If they are broken off above the deck, yes. If below the deck, some are not so easy to get out.
