Flat head horde

Scrap was about $40 each, $160/ton. Recycler is about 20 miles from me. He sold 5 for $1000 so I imagine the five best were out the door already. I was thinking $20 each that way I could at least make a little at scrap prices. He had two V12’s both sold.

If the transmission was bad you can bet the rest of the stuff was probably in the same condition.

$160/Ton is what I am seeing for scrap ferrous metal. At 525 lbs. per flathead (not all of it iron or steel) and little simple math puts scrap value at less than $50 per engine.

You made the wise decision.

My advice would be don't buy them if you don't need them. As more of the hoarders die this stuff will become available.

When they die their engines will be scrapped.

Buy it now while you can. Time travel is not yet possible and nobody has the ability to see into the future.

what does it cost to get a hernia fixed? I m on my 2nd and many have had a dozen hernias. buying engines and moving them is like buying pianos and storing them

Work smarter - not harder - so you can avoid such calamities.

When I was in high school, 1959 1960 the junk yard had a pile of flatheads. Take your pick $25.00 it was yours. For $100.00 they guaranteed it. You could take back the broken blocks, just throw them into a pile.

When I was in high school, 1965 grad flatheads were out of favor. Small block Chevy was all the fad. I had a pair of Offy heads given to me, I passed them on. Silly boy!

I just couldn’t see $200 for the pig in the poke. Silly boy!?
