Flash my regulator?

I am going to attempt to start my truck today after installing a new wiring harness. Do I need flash my regulator again? It is the one that was on my truck, not a new one. It has just been disconnected for a few weeks.

Maybe not, but it's not that hard to do. On my car, I find it easy to disconnect the field at the generator and jump from the coil (ignition on) to the field connection...

The residual magnetism in the generator pole shoes should still be there but it doesn't hurt to remagnetize them after a battery change. Flashing the field will do that. Polarity is important for a positive ground system especially at lower voltage values.

Do if I'm flashing the field on a 12 volt negative generator is it done the same way?
