Flag question

I took a two 2x2 notched the to fit in the bumper space to keep them from spinning. I then drilled holes to fit the flags. I place another board 1x3 behind the bumper and used a bolt with a wing nut to sandwich it together.

Heres what's left of my 6 flags. They must have blown off when I shifted in to 3rd gear at 95mph. Yeah right!

I use small springs on the back side of the bumper . springs with tails on both ends . I cris crossed the bottoms so the flag doesn't fall thru . s/s never take them off (springs) .............. works well .

If you don't mind temporarily removing the end bolt that holds the two bumper bars together, you can replace it with a similar size bolt with a hole drilled in the top to hold a flag staff. When the parade is over remove the temporary bolt and replace the original one.

I made these holders (4) out of clear lexan. Polished SS carriage bolts and elastic stop wing nuts

Today on the fourth of July I saw the slickest way yet. A club member use a single spring per flag. He ran the springs vertical on the back side of the bumper bars. He reformed the ends so the spring was under tension. His spring are the size of the stick that holds the flag.
He just pushes the flag into the spring lengthwise. Spings came from Ace Hardware.

Almost the old Chinese finger method. Put your finger in and you can't pull them out.

Our group was in the Canada Day Parade in Whitehorse, YT on July 1st. Since I had already decked out my Model A for the event and due to engine problems, took my Aviator instead. This is how it looked, same as I had planned for my Model A Pickup:
