What do you say on Flag Day?

"You're the emblem of The land I love. The home of the free and the brave." "We take the stars from heaven, the red from our mother country, separating it by white stripes, thus showing that we have separated from her, and the white stripes shall go down to posterity, representing our liberty."

I love the US flag. Old Glory she's called. It really hacks me off to see her displayed improperly. The NFL is the worst offender. They love to carry the flag onto the field, horizontally, held by a large group of men surrounding and supporting her. This is improper and disrespectful. If you don't believe me see United states Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, subsection 172-177. (I would use the symbol for subsection but for some reason if I use said symbol it erases everything I have just typed. Tried it 3 times.) Please, respect the flag and display her properly and respectfully. Rant over. God Bless America.

Up until a couple of months ago I never had an American flag for display. No reason, just not a showy kind of guy. Then I bought one so I'd have it for Memorial Day weekend. As an American and a veteran I was pleased to fly it; I'm pretty lucky to be born here and be a citizen.

Took it down so I'd have a nice fresh flag that's 'special' for all the patriotic holidays rather than some sad faded thing that's out in the elements 24/7/365. I'll fly it tomorrow for Flag Day. Then again on 4th of July.

BTW cmbrucew, nice looking '41 Coupe, gotta luv em!

I fly a US flag every day. Even when it's -20 and 50mph winds. Usually have to get a new one every yr. Not sure I need a day to tell me. Probably should find a new source as most are made in china from amazon.

I do have a flag given to me by someone that was flown over the white house. Paperwork says under Old Bill boy. Those were good times....

Being we are international here on the forum. Others friends fly other flags.

You mean like some douche with a ar, person, or writing on it. We used to get all pissed about someone wearing a flag as a jacket. Let's get back to basics maybe. Or at least understand the hypocrisy of it all.

As I mentioned I fly one every day. Allows me to say this.

Go for it!

I stand with Lawson & salute the flag. And, thank God Almighty for it & those who stand to keep us free.

My thoughts on this might not be well received by some and probably off topic but here goes anyway. My grandfather fought in the trenches in France during the war to end all wars. My dad was a bomb disposal officer during WWII. I was an MP during the Vietnam era so I totally respect the flag and all it stands for. Its a symbol for what this great country stands for. But at the same time every veteran that served did so to preserve the right of those to disagree or protest. Yes, it bothers me to see some douche disrespecting Old Glory by displaying it improperly or even burning it. But what the flag stands for overcomes all disrespect whether it is unintentional or intentional. JMO and I'm sure others have different opinions.

Not long ago (about 3 months) I found very nice flags at Walmart that were made in the USA. I was surprised and bought 2.

Tinker, Annin flags from Amazon are made in the USA and like you, we get some pretty windy days here in southern AZ. (Actually, had to replace our telescoping pole that lasted 7 years with another Sunsetter...also made in the USA.)

Solar lite on top, however, was made in China....hate that, but it works really well.

here in Michigan you can request a flag from your state rep, made in USA. Different sizes are different prices, but more reasonable than the stores
