I have a few Stromberg 81's with the tops drilled for I'm assuming a fuel heater used at one time. What is the best course of action for filling these? Lead plugs, solder, or something similar??
I have a limited number of brand new wide perimeter flange Stromberg airhorns.
Better sealing, no warpage, and no hammer marks or extra holes!
PM for details.
Irontite makes the plugs for stitching cracks in cast iron... They also make aluminum plugs, I got a few... But, the taps are oh my gosh expensive... They would work well for this.

Another thought is an #6 or #8 aluminum machine screw. After drilling/tapping, run the screw in from the bottom, mark it and cut. Put some Permatex 80062 on the threads and run it in. You can dress the top side with a small file, if needed. Depending on location, might need to shape the screw head as well.
