Fitting 28-29 CCPU windshield garnish

I am having trouble installing the windshield garnish on my 1929 CCPU cab. I know there is a lip on the inner edge of the garnish, but I can't get the top pushed back to the A pillar even though the lip is over the A pillar metal (see picture attached). I know I had a tough time removing the garnish a number of years ago when I was dismantling the cab. I guess I could file off some material at the top of the garnish, but that seems a little harsh. If someone know a trick to install the garnish please post your reply.
Thanks for any help

I had to file the bottom to fit ,
Mind you I was using a repo dash rail , door pillar, and cab
let me know if you want some pics.

The whole cab is really just a big “box”, right? So, when I installed all new roof and body wood I had to keep all the corners pretty loose until both of those inner moldings would snuggle back in by “rocking” the whole windshield frame and the door openings back and forth. Then the header across the front and the door frames could be tightened up in their respective brackets, but not all the way until the door opening was right. Also had the windshield frame slid out of its hinge at the time and slid it back in last. Hard to describe the process any better, sorry, I literally I just shoved the roof around from side to side and front to back while squeezing those garnish molding panels in with clamps. Definitely no shame in some light filing to fit though, especially considering the amount of tweaking the cabs went through over the years of use. Stock truck was twisted quite a bit and really rough, but eventually the doors and windshield frame opened and closed fine after a lot of adjustments to the shims under the whole cab. The channeled hot rod cab is even rougher so it might give me even more grief… Good luck, its tricky to get everything to all line up at the same time and the shims between the frame and cab take a lot of trial and error… Chris, in Boulder

Thanks Lawrie and Chris for your posts. I will keep messing with it and see how it goes. It is close to fitting, but not quite.

I installed mine painted. The lip was bent like yours is, I lined them up and got the final fit with the tap of a rubber mallet. It snapped in place and was easier than I anticipated. The fit looked just like yours

I’d have to uncover and unbury the car to get pictures of the final install.

Couple photos of how far up and behind the header panel the garnish piece has to fit… good luck and be glad yours is in better shape than this one! Anyone have pics or the measurements of the corner bracket that sits up there for the wood header and door frame? Thanks! Chris, in Boulder

Thanks, Hitman and the cooch for your responses. I didn't remember the top went up so far up. I will check on my trim to see if I can get it up high enough to push the bottom in. I have both garnishes painted black, so I don't want to mess them up installing them. The primed garnish in the picture is an extra.
