Hello all fellow barners!! Today I went out to fire my tudor up for the first time. everything checked out good before i attepmted (at least to the best of my knowledge) It turned over great and acted like it wanted to fire but never would. I checked the timing and it was good. I have fuel too. i am not knowledgable at all when it comes to motor stuff. I have the Les Andrews books and have tried to follow all the diagnoses and I am still stumped. Any help or insight would be great. I ran into a gentleman here in Mooresville about two years ago that has a vlack 31 Tudor with green wheels and he told me he would help me getting it running but i have lost his phone number. I think his name was Richard though. If anyone might know who I am talking about please let me know. I would like to get in touch with him. Thank yall

Drew

Droobie, there's another thread running on page 1 re: starting a 1931 - lots of good advice that would all apply to your car.

Thanks for the prompt posts! I actually started poking around with the multimeter and found the coil to be bad.... My neighbor just happened to have a 6volt coil from an old ford tractor. installed it and she fired right up!! It was soooo exciting!! I am going to have tune on the carb a little bit because she wouldnt idle. It kept going up then down in RPM. I have all day tomarrow for this.

After the failed attempt, check at least one spark plug. If it is to wet you may need to turn the GAV in a little or not choke it as much. If it's dry you may not be getting any fuel and you may need to choke it a little longer or turn the GAV valve open further. do only one thing at a time. This is all on the presumption that you're getting spark. Good Luck and keep us informed

GONGRATULATIONS!!!!

You being able to find the problem and get it fixed is MUCH BETTER then having someone else to make it run.

Droobie:

All I can say is that I have to get a neighbor like yours since I am keeping 6 volt system in my 53" Merc....is this a great nation or what?

Congrats on hearing the engine run...nothing more exiting than that!! Always puts a smile on my face!!
