First ride

:pThat's right, I finally did it. I took my 1st ride in the '30 coupe that I've been working on for about 1.5 years. (Also not only had the cellphone on me, but I hooked the car trailer up to my wife's Tahoe just in case) To say it was Exciting and yet kinda Scary at the same time would be an understatement. Like to near wore out that Ahooga Horn. I drove it about 9 miles (one way) to our little rural town to MacDonalds (which subs as our only Coffee Shop) where the old codgers get together each morning. They sit around and lie and tell stories as that's what we oldsters do. So I chimed right in and told them that my Coupe was the National Winner this year. It does look good and of course they all said I was probably lying......Oh Well.:):)

Gotta say that other than a slight seepage from under the Quail cap everything went great. The shocks aren't even fastened up yet and yet it rides like a dream. I LOVE THAT ENGINE SOUND........BRINGS BACK MEMORIES OF A CHILDHOOD WHEN THESE CARS WERE COMMON, ......AND SOME $75.:p

Does this now make me a Model A'er?

CONGRATS.....cant wait till that day for me....its along way off just getting started on my 1st model A

Well Rbolt, this is my first Model A also. It's amazing what you learn working on one of these cars. Also the tools that I have made just to work on it. But it is fun and I am so pleased that I have done it all pretty much on my own except for the Paint Job. AND, most of the major stuff had been restored before I got it, like the brakes, drive line, engine. That's where I took over. Still lots of work.

Bobpo,

Congratulations ! There's nothing like that pulse-racing ,weak-in-the-knees feeling !!!! :D

I've been playing around with this old stuff since I could hold a wrench ,and 40-some years later, I still get that "little kid thrill"...;)

Sharp-looking coupe; I like the color combo !

thats great real exciting it gets the adrenaline going doesn't it. it always a good thing when you make it home also...

Yes, it was great to get back home, but it was even greater arriving at MacDonald's and watchin' all those "Old Codgers" heads turnin' when I drove in and found a parkin' spot in front. If I wouldn't have gotten a front spot, I would have just drove on thru the lot a left. After all, this is my Baby I'm talkin' 'bout here.

You know I got to thinkin', that's probably the most some of those heads have turned in ages. Hope I didn't hurt none of 'em. LOL
