First model A's built.

I've heard that the first Model A rear fenders were different from later ones in the rear area. I have looked high and low for a picture of these but cannot locate one. Does anyone here have a picture of them?
Thanks.

The rear fenders on coupes and I believe roadsters used what is referred to as beavertail rear fenders (they neck down from the body to the bottom) on the first model A's produced. A member of our club in the Twin Cites has an early 28 sports coupe that has these type of fenders. In addition, the first 200 or so model A's had open ended bumpers on both the front and rear. The very early A's also used a unique T type bar spacer between the rear bumperettes. There are probably other unique features I can't remember. There was a picture recently posted, I can't find it now, that showed a model A (coupe or roadster) that had the open bumpers, beavertail fenders and the T bar bumper spacer. Maybe a little more looking might find it.

While not the greatest view, here is a picture showing somewhat how they narrowed on the tail end.

Looks like they used a repro under-trunk panel! :o
It looks like A189 may have once had a RH tailamp?
The car certainly has always been LHD [ maybe sent to Europe as a Demo car] but my information says Sweden, where A189 came from, was a RHD market before about 1967. Can our European friends [ Plind] comment?
There is also an early LHD Roadster in Canada with an original RHD tailamp that was probably driven in one of the RHD Provinces there.

Tom :
I do not know about RHD in Sweden, but i am sure that it has been LHD from new..And it was on the street 7 Marts 1928 in a town Strömstad near the border between Sweeden and Norweigian.
We have to ask Lars Hedström, he was the man helping restoring the car in Sweeden before it goes to the States..
I am sure the car have been " Demo " in Scandinavien.. I have read in a newpaper from Feb 28, that all the Model A use for the show in Dealers windows in Denmark , Sweeden , and Norway late Jan 28- Feb 28 was used as demo, and the car was JUST demo, not sales car.. But i think it has been sold, when the demo is over.. And we do have many Early Model A in Scandinavien.. In Denmark, there have been more than 50 , 4 digit car in start 28...( I do have the WIN nr. on all cars.)

Per,

Per,
It would be very interesting if you could post any of the numbers of those four digit numbered Model As in Scandinavia. I wonder how many still exist?
