First excursion with 49 F3

I took over a F3 project from my brother a couple of months ago. Has flathead V8 and mostly original except updated 60s era rear axle, brakes and wheels. Has 4 speed original gearbox, no syncros, pretty noisy except in top gear but it shifts pretty well.

My brother did do a nice job on the cab but rest of body will need some help. Bed floor is trashed. Never done much heavy body work so I will probably use that as my learning project. Probably never will be a show truck, just for fun.

Engine needs some work also before I can get very serious about longer trips. Starts and runs fine but lots of blowby and generally low power. Today's trip was about 15 miles total along back roads to nearest gas station.

I could add a few pictures but I am new to the site and have not got around to figuring that out.

Welcome to the Barn! Don't worry about a show truck, just drive it and enjoy it! Post pics when you can.

Question - The engine has draft tube elbow removed and a small hose adapter to PCV valve installed. Does that generally make the situation better or worse?

Welcome to the Barn

I'd love to see this "beast" of yours as we don't get to look at big trucks too often.

To post pictures go the "manage Attachments" then push "browse" and you should be able to upload some pic you have on your computer somewhere.

Just worry about driving the truck and not showing it. You'll get lots of thumbs up when you drive it which will put a smile on your face.

I added an album with a few more pics if I did it right.

The PCV system should work fine, make sure the oil filler cap is clean, that's where the air gets into the engine. Walt
