First Drive In A Year!

Sorry I can’t find the original thread on this topic. Yesterday we finally got the A started and took it for a brief drive! As you may recall we took the gas tank out and had it cleaned. We started this process in March. There were many obstacles this year, but we tried starting it a couple weeks ago, but it ran for 30 seconds then died. I got looking yesterday and noticed that the point gap was at 0.50! It had vibrated loose as I didn’t have the holding screw down far enough. I might want to do some fine tuning yet, but it’s running pretty good and feels like nothing ever happened. It frustrates me that we’ve list nearly 2 years of possible car shows and nice evening drives. Hopefully 2027 will be a better year!

I'm kind of surprised that it ran at all at 0.050". I find if I get the gap much above around 0.030" that it won't start. My usual issue is the gap closing down due to rubbing block wear, lower limit seems to be about 0.015".
