Firewall Color

Restoring a 29 Tudor. My question is relative to the firewall, both the engine side and the inside. What color is the firewall painted, black regardless of body or is it the body color? Engine side different than inside? Thanks, Ron Kansas

Both sides should be painted lower body color. I don't believe either side was rubbed out (when they were painted with original lacquer), so they should not be real shinny. Hope this helps.

BTW, I grew up in El Dorado, just a few miles from Kechi. I now live in Minnesota.

Both sides body color. Originally Pyroxilin lacquer, not buffed out like the exposed body. Since you will be using modern paint, you may want to add a flattener for authenticity so it looks like unbuffed lacquer.

My 1930 Coupe Deluxe is a un-restored original painted the same color as the body on both sides of the firewall.

my car is a un restored original paint 50 year barn find and the fire wall inside and out has a redish color coming out of the black paint. Has any one seen this before
