Firestone Spark Plugs

Here is an article about those things. A cute idea from the golden age of radiation.

Those plugs are kind of a historical oddity, don't throw them away!

BTW, the half life of polonium 210 is 138 days. That means that half of the radioactivity had disappeared 138 days after manufacture, half again in another 138 days, etc. Conservatively let's say that the plugs were manufactured on January 1, 1948. Today is 27,962 days later, or about 202 half-lives. Calculating, that means that the amount of radioactivity left is 1 divided by 2 to the 202th power - or 0.(61 zeros)1.

They make great conversation pieces!

Hi JayJay:

Thanks for the great information.

I just found some Firestone S-80-CF.

Any information on these?

Those were also Firestone Po-210 spark plugs, same comments apply. Don't know what these were designed to fit, though, I don't have fitment charts.
