Finding Frame S/N...

Special Coupe Frank

Am getting inspired to go looking of the serial number stamped on the frame of my Special Coupe...

How involved is this ?

How high will I need to jack the body ?

Do I have to remove the splash-apron, running board or LF fender ?

What else ?

( This is a running, driving car, so I don't want to tear into so far that it's laid up for a while... )

Thanks...

Actually, to me it is more trouble than it is worth unless you are restoring the car and planning to remove body, sheet metal etc..... Most likely the number is lost, due to rust, elements, shifting of body, etc... Also the number could have been stamped in the location you just might have to pull the fender or splash apron to try to see it... etc... then to try to realign the sheet metal, etc... but it is your car....

I'd prefer to wait till I did a body off restoration if I were you. when I did my special coupe I removed the splash aprons and it was under the rubber pad on the left side of the cowl. I had to wire brush the years of oil and dirt of to see the number. when the body went back on I replaced the wood blocks and the rubber pads then had to realign the body.
