Finally Painted!

Four years after starting to work on my car, I finally got the body shell all painted. It is a maroon/black combo, painted in PPG Concept. I used semi-gloss maroon for the door jambs/edges and semi-gloss black for the wheel wells, so the final painting marathon needed four masking and spraying sessions. (I had previously painted the floorpan, firewall, and interior in semi-gloss maroon.)
I haven't started on the hood yet, but it is in very good shape and hopefully it will be done by the end of the summer. Nor have I touched the fenders, but they are not in such great shape, and will probably be next summer's painting project.

This is one of my favorite color combos, it looks great. I have an 30 briggs body town sedan painted the same colors. I also left my wheels black. The ford maroon is such a deep rich looking color, and looks even better in the sun

Good color combination - love it. How much of the maroon did it take?

So far, about 2 or 2.5 quarts of maroon paint. That includes the entire underside, firewall (both sides), gas tank, and interior floor (but not the interior sheet metal that is covered by panels). I sprayed 3 coats on the exterior.

I have about 14 ounces left, and I am not sure if it will be enough for the hood (inside and out). Anybody have an opinion on that? That paint is so expensive, I would hate to have to order another quart and not actually need it...

Looking GOOD Doug !! I've followed your progress from the old barn and had saved your site but lost it due to the change over . Glad to see the paint. Your pictorials have helped me alot. Thanks for posting. Rusty
