Gas prices most likely will rise sharply this week vis-a-vis Egypt situation.

Big Oil will use any excuse to raise the rate, and cutting ships out of the Suez Canal is a big excuse/reason.

I don't disagree with the statement that prices will go up, but wholesale contracts for February deliveries were sealed months ago and not much crude comes through the Suez Canal-the ships are too big. Still this will be a fun thread to watch implode before the moderators close it. Party On!

Price at the pump is mostly influenced, not by big oil but Big speculators. Here in Lovely So.Cal regular is over $3.30 while Deisel is over $3.71 in spots. Thank you Democratic Legislature and the Enviormental nuts!
Sorry, got carried away!

They will be mad in NZ,just visited there gas was $2 a litre

I'm not a happy lad. I'm paying over NZD $2.05/ litre to fill the Falcon. Well over a hundred a tank now.

Still, not all bad, we're not running ethanol yet. :)

Pump price determined mostly by big demand. Notice that China is now the biggest auto market? Think that might have something to do with demand?

In the case of California, by the fruits and nuts in Sacramento.

Just as before!!!!!!!!!!

When it gets too high, I park em! Great to be retired . I only go out if i want too. :D

Bought any corn lately? $5.00 for 4 ears at the grocery store. Ethanol is our friend?

OK, let's talk CORN!
Can someone...anyone explain why we (USA) can't charge those oil countries the same price for a bushel of corn, as they charge us for a barrel of oil??
Hey, let them eat oil if they object! We feed the world corn/wheat, it is said. We also give them our country's treasures...for oil, hmm!

I disagree.

1) They so-called 'news' in America has been reporting for months that U.S. gasoline consumption is dropping
2) China has approximately 5% of the automobiles that we have (U.S. has more autos than people) Strange that they would be creating a big demand especially now that the pipeline from Soviet Russia is opening up to supply just China, oil that we don't import anyway so why would the price spike?

No. Price is set totally by speculation in this case and/but if you want to take a closer look at the real reasons for the increase, it is because the Bildebergers said for it to happen.

If you are not familiar with this secretive group you need to read up on it. THAT will explain 'why' things happen the way they do. Throw to the wind the lies that the U.S. News agencies force feed you it is all baloney.

What about the huge amount of plastics China makes? That requires oil does it not?

How do they fuel their factories? Power plants?

I have to assume cars are only a tiny amount of consumption.

No big price spike in SC, it actually went down over the week, filled up with regular yesterday for $2.87 gallon. Last week it was $3.09 gallon.
