Speaking as one who has been to the Bonneville salt flats many many many times since 1949 and seen salt caking and build up like no road salt could ever be, the best way to avoid corrosion is water, water water water wash and then do it again several more times.
If you wash it enough, you will find leaks that you never thought possible.
