Fenderwell Headers SBC 40 Pick Up Help

I don't know for certain, but I'd assume ones used a Willy's would work. The fenders of both are similar.

You're asking for help. The best help I can give you is to throw that SBC behind the garage and put a flathead back in it!

I found a set on ebay that were stainless and pretty cheap and the quality was good. Only thing i ran into was the angle of the collector flange. Of course they were corona brand in a generic box. Part number EH28124.

Was one of those online ebay parts stores with a million items listed

In any event, this is not the best place to ask something like this. There are many forums out there more oriented towards this sort of thing.

I would venture a guess that there is probably as much knowledge about an SBC in a EFV8 here on the Barn as there is on any Forum.

A better option for a SBC in an early Ford would be the SBC rams horn manifolds from the mid '60's, If you can find a set of rams horn manifolds from a fuel injected small block, they are made for 2-1/8" pipes and have excellent flow properties.

A word of caution, use two right-hand manifolds, the right side does not have the generator mounts made into the manifold.
I have used the FI manifolds on several SBC's in early cars, plenty of clearance in the narrow frame and limited engine space. I generally have them Jet-Coated which is close to chrome.

Well, I am glad you came on the post to make your opinion know rather than answer the question asked or ignore it and move along. I bet it made you feel good about yourself. And that is really all that matters.

Yo, Dirty.....It's ALMOST amazing the number of folks coming on here with little in the way of answers, yet when a guy that's been around the block a few times attempts to politely send you in a direction that would likely get you closer to the answer you seek, you want to thank him with a ration of crap! Maybe you'd rather a B/S answer?

If you would read and comprehend my comment, I think you may come to realize that it was meant with a positive intention. I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way.

There really are places you can get better answers to questions like this than here.

I already got one good answer prior, then another. Seemed like the run of the mill "you should take that someplace else" or similar comment like take out the SBC that has little or nothing to do with the OP. c'est la vie

My goodness what a can of worms in response to a rather simple question.

2 things. I’d venture to say the majority of cars/trucks of that vintage are “repowered”, most with the much vilified (here) SBC.

Hell, I’ve committed that very sacrilege myself on more than 1 occasion. Given the limitation of the flathead (horsepower) it’s what we did back in the day.
My 1st shoebox in 1960 fer instance. I was tired of the “cool college guys” and their ’57 chevs. The neighbor wreaked his 57 Old J2 and almost gave it away. Made one hell of a shoebox

Back to the op’s question. Much as I hated the “ram’s horns” it was a logical simple solution. My kid bought a set of “block hugging” headers for his ‘32.
BTW, THIS is the ideal forum to ask that question. The wealth of knowledge here is astounding.

I have never been much of a fan for headers on a street engine. From my experience headers are meant to be used on an open exhaust system, generally they do not start to do their job when the RPM's are below 3,000.
Of course there are exceptions, an inline engine is one. One of my current projects is a '37 that started out it's life as a inline six, I wanted to increase the HP so I used a 292 6 cylinder with dual Weber's and shorty headers. With a few additional improvements we got the HP up to 195 from the original 150. Pretty respectable improvement for the '37, especially in an engine compartment with limited space.

Reflecting back on 'Gene49's comment about re-powered Shoe Boxes of the '60's brought to mind all of the 'Ford-Alac's', ie; '49-51 Ford's there were during the mid to late '50's. The good ole days of my misspent youth.

When the majority of my friends went crazy for a '55 Chevy with the power pack option I bought a 53 Olds Super 88 2dr post in late '54. My Olds would run off and hide from the '55 Chevy's. It was unheard of at the time to see a speedometer in a car that went to 120 MPH. The Olds had one, and it was very easy to peg the needle.
