Fender Welting?

Putting a '29 Tudor together, fenders were off when I got it. Is there welting between the front fenders and the apron above the running boards?

There is welting between the splash apron and front fender starting right in front of the runningboads. It starts at the inside front corner of the running board and ends at the hood shelf. There is no welting between the running board and splash apron or on the front and back ends of the runningboard where they are bolted to the fenders.

I grew up just about 20 miles from you live in El Dorado. I moved to Minnesota for a job, got married to a MN lady and have been here since 1968. My younger brother and I had two model A's when were in high school and college in Kansas - a 1929 tudor and a 1929 sports coupe. Have fun installing your fender welting. I wish I was at that point with my 1928 special coupe I have been working on for over 4 years. I am getting close to being done, but no cigar yet.

Hi Rusty,

I grew up outside of LeMars, Iowa, my brother had a 30 Tudor and bought a 29 Tudor for spare parts. I made a power unit to run farm elevators out of the engine and frame of the '29 when I was still a Teen Ager. Moved to Kansas when NW Iowa dried out in 1956, went to college, met my wife and as they say, "The rest is history." Thanks for the input and advice.

When I install fenders, I cut Vs in the welt tail so it will bend to the curvature of the fender or body. I then contact cement the fender welt to the front fenders and to the body for the rear fenders.
