Fender edge patch panels

Snyder's sells patch panels for the edges of front fenders, about 2" wide and 58" long, that have the wire already installed in the lower edge. Has anybody ever seen one, or even better, used one?

Or even have a photo of one?

Thanks,
Doug

Another thing: I just noticed in Synder's web site that they sell replacements for those flat triangular pieces at the rear inside of sedan rear fenders. (The originals tend to rust out from junk getting trapped beneath them.)

I had no idea anybody sold these. Are they new? Anybody seen one? They are a bit pricey.

Hi Doug,

Attached are photos of one of Snyder's bead patch things. I was going to replace a 24" section, but after close review, I'll only do about 12". The bead profile matches the original fender real close.

However the cross section or crown above the bead does not, as you can see with the profile-gage in one of the photos. Therefore, I believe I'm going to cut the bead patch thing about 1/2" above the bead.

If I had it to do over again, I would just form/shape up a piece of steel from scratch to replace the bad section. I guess it just depends upon how long a patch you need.

Thanks a lot for posting the photos!

It looks like they cut a flat piece of material to the correct shape, and ran the lower edge through a bead roller. To have the entire piece match the fender shape perfectly, I guess it would have to be die-stamped, or have a bunch of shrinking and stretching done on it (which would drive the cost way up).

That's quite a bit off! I wonder if the guys that stamp the whole fenders could create patch panels?
