Fender covers

Can anyone tell me where to get the best fender covers? I was reading some of the reviews & some say they are really thin & others say you have to be sure you don't leave them on the car too long or it could take the paint right off the fenders!
So now I am totally scared to purchase the wrong ones and confused as their are so many different brands. so I need some input!
thanks

Never used fender covers. Purchased large cotton bath towels.
Any debris caught underneath is more likely to move into the weave and not cause damage like the harder surface covers that I have seen.

An old, well-washed quilt, padded bed spread or duvet made from cotton works great as well.

Joanne,

I feel a little slow here. Do you want covers to use when you work on the car or covers to keep the fenders from getting chipped and covered with bugs when you drive?

Go to Harbor freight and buy their moving pads. They do run sales and you can get them for $5

Bath towels. Get large ones that will drape to the fender well. Helps prevent scratches from belt buckles and zippers.

When working on the car, I mostly use old bed sheets folded up. For winter storage, I have some car covers and also use harbor freight mover blankets.

I seem to recall you have horses? Take the buckles off an old horse cooler or use old saddlepads.

I might also use big magnets like on the little parts "ashtrays" to help hold the towels on the fender.

If your cover has a surface finish that you would not use to polish your car with, then it should not be used to cover a fender.

I have a NAPA fender cover, has a ledge sewn in so nothing falls off fender like a towel or bed sheet or blanket.

I use old army wool blankets, they work well. I use them folded so there are 2 -3 layers so there is some padding. should still be able to get these at army/navy surplus stores.
