Fast idle on 1930

I set the timing which was retarded causing it to heating up. Much more power and get up and go. Now the idle is too fast. The linkage is not causing the problem. The fast idle 'cam' adjustment screw is loose. It appears that there is a main 'jet' adjusting screw but I did not see a idle 'jet' adjusting screw. I will try adjusting the main screw.

You should be able to turn out the idle stop screw until it won't idle so there is something holding the linkage from full return or you may have a air leak in the butterfly shaft or intake manifold.

I may have an vacuum leak. At startup there is a "whistle" for about a minute then it stops. I may spray some starting fluid where I think the leak is located and see if the rpm's increase.

A sure fire way to find vacuum leaks: Get yourself a cheap stethoscope, remove the probe, use the open hose to find vacuum leaks. It will SCREAM like a BANSHEE when you find the leak! Same goes for finding exhaust leaks.
