going to town
33 or 34 pickup
Love that photo. It brings back some great memories for me. In the late 40's we lived on a ranch in St. Helena, Ca. One of the workers was a little Italian guy who had a 33 or 34 Ford pickup that he bought brand new. He always had a small mixed breed dog with him in the pickup. Every Sunday he would drive into town and take me with him. He bought 3 donuts at the bakery. One for me, one for the dog and one for him. Glad I grew up in the late 40's and 50's.
not a ford story; but, i grew up on a farm in se pa. One time we went to visit my grandparents next county over. At this time my parents had a 1933-34 dodge sedan, on the way home(my mom was driving) cars kept passing us and pointing and laughing. We couldn't figure out why. When we got home my mom walked to the back of the car and lo and behold there perched on top of the rear mounted spare sat sat one of grandma's hens, looked a little wind blown, but otherwise fine. We still laugh at that to this day.lol
Those children could still be alive today. I'm 90 and came home from the hospital in my father's '30 Model A. I have a picture of me and that car but I don't know how to post it.
Here is another one that is really special in a couple of ways if you like 33 and 34 pickups, coming home and girls!
This reminds me of when my brother and had summer jobs at Cornell university in his '48 Mercury. We usually slowed down at a farm on the back road we traveled because chickens were always in the road... Then one day we didn't. We hit a dried out old rooster dead on. As I looked behind there was a column of feathers 30 feet high. We laughed all the way to work!not a ford story; but, I grew up on a farm in SE Pa. one time we went to visit my grandparents next county over.
