Fans

The original Model A fan is 16" diameter . The four blade fan is 15 1/2" diameter. They were used on BB and later trucks and will bolt right onto the A water pump.If you want to use the four blade make sure you get an original ,I have seen some very dodgy repro ones about . The originals are fairly heavy constuction and the blades are rivetted to the hub. They are fairly plentiful (here in England).

John,

We did it slightly different on this side of the pond. The fan I believe you are talking about (original Ford, 15 1/2 diameter, riveted to hub) came out in 1933 for use on all 4 cylinder motors including passenger cars (they did make a few) as well as commercial vehicles. It carries part number 46-8600. The Green Bible shows it as the replacement fan for all 4 cylinder engines 1928-34 which explains why there are so many of them compared to the number of 4 cylinder vehicles produced.

Thanks for that all good info. Very very few model 40 passenger cars were produced at the Dagenham plant. I know of one survivor with the 4 cylinder and it has the 4 blade fan. The little 8 HP model Y was the big seller . Most all 4 blade fans here were off the big trucks.
