Fan Mount Generator Pulley for a Late Generator?

Well I think I found the missing link that I didn't even know existed.

I was trying to figure out a way to run a generator mounted fan on an 8BA in my 32 sedan. I did a lot of machine work to put a 32 style pulley on the 57-64 12V generator that is on the 59A in my 32 pickup. I didn't want to go through that again. Then I found this pulley. It is marked "2 BRUSH TO-3 NOS". It is the larger bore and internally threaded like a 40-48 pulley. I assume it was used to put a later 2-brush generator on an early car that needed a fan on the generator. Casting number is W383.

It threads right on the front of a 57-64 12V generator...no machine work required. Problem solved.

So...was this a Ford part, or aftermarket?

Thanks,

Neal

Neal,

If it is not a Ford part (from the casting number) then it is an aftermarket duplicate of a Ford part. I am not sure (and hope someone will correct me) but I think it is a '39 standard. I am using one on my '37 with a 2 brush generator. They were hard to find for years but it is my understanding that someone is now making a repro.

Charlie - My brother was thinking '39...so that could be it. I am glad I stumbled upon this...it should make the 8BA in a 32 go smoother.

Neal,

Another trivia trick that you may already know is the intake manifold from a '37 (and a couple of years later) has the low mount for the generator and keeps the fan from hitting the hoses in a '32. I don't know what it would take to put one on a 8BA but keep it in mind.

38 and 39 standard original,Hard to find. I've got an old reproduction on my 36 thats aluminum made by Dart in Jacksonville Fl.
