Here's a reminder for everyone to check their fan blades. I was going for a ride over the weekend (just tooling around) when I heard a loud clashing noise come from the engine and then stop. I pulled over to find my fan in the radiator. I managed to limp the car home spuing coolant all over.
Now here is what happened from what I can find. One of my blades broke loose where someone had welded it together and then started striking the radiator and stopped whne it hit the lower radiator hose and got lodged in it. This then bent the fan bracket as well as the hub assembly.
So how bad was the damage well we had to replace the radiator hose and decided to buy a brand new machined hub assembly with fan blade. It's not for a 1914 but it will work and afte that I feel alot better with a whole new assemble with ball bearing and everything. As for the radiator (which brand new cost me around $1,200.00 4 years ago) I got out the old blow torch and solder and was lucky that only one fin tube was actually leaking two others cut cut but not deep enough. So some silver bearing solder was able to patch her up and at elast the out side still looks great just won't be opening my hood as much now.
So make sure you check over your fan assemblies to avoid this kind of costly disaster.
