Falcon carb question

I have an old 62 Ranchero sitting out back and I'm trying to find the right carb. I have several Holley singles but only the smaller base ones have a manual choke. Maybe the engine was changed, I have no idea if it's 140 or 170.
So to start with does anyone have the stud hole measurement for a correct 62 Carb? Is there a large base single with manual choke? My studs measure right at 3" center to center.

If you're looking for a carb to fit the engine in the car, it might be easier to start with finding out for sure which engine, head/intake manifold it is. Esp. if you think it might have been changed.

Look for casting numbers on the engine block, cylinder head/intake manifold.
A link to decode casting numbers....

Here's a couple more *ID your Ford 6 cylinder* links...
Paragraph #4 at this first link has info about carburetors, but no bolt pattern measurements

On those engines, the intake is integral with the head. All of these engines (144, 170, 200, 250) were different, and they always had different carburetors also. Also many of the "trucks" had a manual choke. Get the numbers off the engine, and then find the correct carb number. As for finding the correct one, (and it HAS to be the correct one) good luck. Few have survived intact. Your best bet believe it or not, would be e-pay. NEVER buy a "rebuilt" from a chain store as they are carbs assembled from parts from many different carbs, and the car will never be quite right, or even worse.

Well, maybe it isn't even a 62. The one link says manual choke 60-61. I'll have to look at the numbers and see. But right now I'm not trying to make this crusty old car factory correct, I'd be happy with a carb with a manual choke that would bolt on and run so I could move it around and mow weeds until such a time as I get the rest of the V8 stuff and can put my spare 260 in it.

A *factory correct* '62 Falcon? Haha. Ok not really. I'm not familiar with them and glancing at the info in paragraph 4 at this link it looks to me like Ford changed the carbs every year.
The text says there is some interchangeability(?) but you may have to find the 'right' one to fit the engine anyway. (or at least one that's as close as you can get)

Similar example? On the '55, '56 & '57 V8's each year had a one-year-only combination of intake and carburetor that won't interchange with the others without causing some trouble.

Once you know for sure which engine, intake/head you've got you'll have a better idea of what carb(s) you're looking for.

Yeah, this is more effort than I want to put in it right now. Who would have thought it would be so complicated to just throw a carb on a crappy little car.
I think I'll just winch it on the trailer and take it to the ranch and wait until I'm more interested in it. Get all the V8 stuff gathered up.

Find a 260 or 289 drivetrain for it and solve the problem.
I've got a spare 260. And a Grenada 9 inch. Neighbor kid has parted a couple V8s and kept all the suspension and frame pieces. Just need a bell housing and I'd copy the adapter I made for my rpu and use a T5
