Hello all! I have a 2002 5.4L F150 this is the second time that it has stripped a plug. Have anny of you all had this problem? I bought the truck used with 27000 miles on it.Lost the first cylender at about 69,000.Had it repaired at a good shop cost me about 400$. I was working & 12 hr shifts seven days a week. did not have time to repair myself. I am going to purchase a repair kit. What kit is the best?

You are very welcome. Good luck, hope you get'er fixed. ;)

Where I worked they sold a lightning, it spit out a plug, they used the quick cheap self tapping adapter kit ---about a month later it came in smoking and running rough ---I suspect the heat range of the plug was changed by the adapter causing detonation ---it broke that rod, made a big hole in the block. --use one of the better kits that uses an insert that puts the plug in the original location.

I have heard that this is a problem with the modular engines.

This is a problem with those modular blocks and heads, for some reason the spark plugs are very long and they explode in the head, there was some sort of fix available but no official acknowledgement of the occurrence by Ford if I remember right, I thought last mention was to replace the plugs.

The Ford dealers have a fix for this, but not all will say so as they would rather have you spend a couple grand replacing the head. Find one that does it, work should be warranted.
