f150 output shaft

I have read most of the post on f150 ****** in model a ,liked what I see, have obtained transmission. problem I live in Louisiana, cannot find a machine shop that will cut new spline in output shaft either don,t have the equipment, or knowledge or desire to do such a small job! help please does anyone know of a shop that can and will do the work I,m open to all suggestions

Moser, a company making special rear ends for drag cars, used to do custom splining by mail...I do not know if they still do, but if not they can probably refer you to someone.
I'd think way to specify the job would be to just mark the length needed on the new shaft, mark the length of the splines, and send them the new shaft and a Model A shaft...?

turn key conversions of these are made by Dave Delmue in Morgan Hill, Calif. Perhaps he can sell you the necessary stuff or you might find buying his conversion saves you so much trouble its worth it. You will have to shorten the drive shaft and torque tube as well as convert the pedals/ trans interface.

The drive shaft splines will also need to be extended because of shortening the drive shaft. Many shops are afraid to cut these splines because they think you need special equiptment. Really they do not. The important parts of the spline are the OD and the width of the tooth. Everything else is just clearence. I did mine with a dividing head with tailstock on the Bridgport with an end mill. Did you find a trans with 26% overdrive?

I got my turn key conversion from Dave. There was no way I could have done all the work to accomplish this myself. Dave produces an excellent product. Complete bolt in, no alterations to the car itself.

I should have added that I annealed the output shaft first but not the driveshaft. Good luck. Ron W
